Lumosity

I've worked with Rob and Andy of Brain Surprise over a period of several years, first as individual engineers on Lumosity's Data team, and later as consultants. Over this time period, they planned and/or delivered many major projects that supported engineering, analytics, and marketing, including: moving the data pipeline to scale-out using Amazon Elastic MapReduce, migrating job flows to Apache Airflow, and building an open source analytics platform for Redshift. As consultants, they have a strong sense of ownership and can deliver projects on time and in scope with very little direction and oversight. Coupled with their significant background in the modern data ecosystem and ability to ask deep, incisive questions in defining project scope, this is extremely valuable to early-stage companies.
